Meredith's Baby Shower
It's a very funny thing to watch your friends "figure" change shape in such a dramatic way :-) Mer's got such a cute baby belly, it's very missile like. We had a great time at the shower, of the three games that were played, Tami, Traci and myself were the winners, thus the "bible study" team sweep. (We're all in a Bible study together). We're awaiting the little guys arrival in just a few short weeks. Congratulations Mer bear (and Horacio :-)

Heart Gallery OC Gala
Sat. night was the Heart Gallery OC gala and it was a smashing success. The event was held at Mariners Church in Irvine. The evening included yummy food, a silent auction, videos of children in foster care waiting for their forever families as well as portraits beautifully displayed around the room. I had the opportunity to share my family's story of foster/adoption and encourage those in attendance to look into what they could do to impact the lives of children in the foster care system. I just added two links to my blog that will take you to the heart gallery for both L.A. and Orange county so check those out for more information! A big thank you to all my friends & family for always supporting me over and above the call of duty. You guys are truly the best and made the night even more memorable.

10 Ways Every Christian Can Care for the Orphan
1. Give Them What They Need
If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and be filled," and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that? James 2:15-16
2. Support Those Who Support Them
And let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds . . . Hebrews 10:24
3. Provide Them a Safe Place
The Lord protects the strangers; He supports the fatherless and the widow, But He thwarts the way of the wicked. Psalm 146:9
4. Go Visit Them
Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world. James 1:27
5. Give Sacrificially to Them
Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. II Corinthians 9:7
6. Cheer Them On
We urge you, brethren, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone. I Thessalonians 5:14
7. Plead with the Father for Them
Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8
8. Speak Up For Them
Open your mouth for the mute, For the rights of all the unfortunate. Open your mouth, judge righteously, And defend the rights of the afflicted and needy. Proverbs 31:8-9
9. Give Them a Forever Family
A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families . . . Psalm 68:5-6a (NIV)
10. Mobilize Your Church for Them
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you. . . Matthew 28:18-20
