My hardworking man...

Greg's on to another house project...installing a sprinkler system & walkway in our front yard. He's already removed all the grass and is now leveling out the yard, hauling away all the extra dirt and roots to prep for installing the sprinkler system. Even though it's in the middle of Oct. its ridiculously hot so I put my gardening hat on him to shade his eyes...he's too cute for actually continuing to wear it! (and probably doesn't appreciate that I've posted pics for all to see :-) I just had to brag a little because I'm so proud of him and all he does to make our house a home that we both enjoy.

Board & Batton Builders

As I've said before...owning a home brings lot's o little projects that seem to never end. I'm always dreaming up little ways to try to make our home the little cottage I've always wanted...a little tricky when you live smack dab in the middle of the city in a 1947 home that isn't so "cottagy" (is that even a word?) At any rate, some of you may have noticed the house color has changed...it used to be yellow and we went with a light chocolate brown with black accents. Of course no cottage is complete without shutters. Being the frugal shopper I am, I was not about to pay 35$/pr. for some vinyl plastic paintable shutters so my wonderful hubby volunteered (ok he was a bit coerced) to build them for me. He is a keeper! I think they turned out adorably... and that's really all that matters since I'm the one who has to live here :-) I even got in on the fun, I painted the boards and I even painted our old wicker chairs from the natural color to black...only four more windows to go!

Projects never end...

one thing I've learned about being a home owner is that there seems to be a never ending list of projects to get done...first it's refinishing the floors, painting the rooms, hanging pictures...then they get a bit grander like, remodeling the kitchen & bath. So after a brief respite of working on projects, we're back at it and this time we've decided to install a sprinkler system. Thank goodness my pops has had his share of experience helping three out of his four kids rig up a good system. Greg and I along with the help of some trusty friends (thanks izzy & dad) shed blood sweat and tears digging trenches (ok just sweat). I'm pretty proud to say that Greg and I laid all the pipes not just for the main but also a drip system for my landscaping - yet another project. Next up...laying sod...to be continued.

A work in Progress

September was a very busy month for us. Not only did I go back to work for the Martine Cotillions and begin preparation for the pageant, but we started remodeling our bathroom/kitchen. Here are a few before and during shots. We are set to be finished sometime before Christmas!
